Cinthia is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who holds Master’s degrees in both Counseling and Communication. She specializes in trauma treatment for survivors of sexual assault, adults healing from childhood sexual abuse, and domestic violence. Her clients include adults, teens, and children, and she serves survivors as well as treating couples and families. Janet’s approach to the treatment of trauma utilizes a variety of current therapies including sensorimotor psychotherapy, feminist, humanist, CBT, DBT, and transpersonal approaches including mindfulness, meditation, dance, and yoga.
She has had training that qualifies her as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and she is a member of the International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP) and the American Counseling Association (ACA). She is also a Certified Parent Educator in the Circle of Security, a training for healthy parent-child attachment. She has extensive additional training in the relationships among culture, gender, and trauma, and she has co-facilitated a women’s group for survivors of domestic violence.
Besides loving her work, Janet enjoys spending time with her family, reading, writing, yoga, power walks, and music.
